Check the connectors and wiring. Measure the resistance in the engine temperature sensor. The resistance shall be around 2.5k Ohm at 20º C.

No driver-visible symptom recorded.
System reaction
A calculated value will be used instead of the sensor value. This will shut off the EGR. A cold engine might get harder to start and have an irregular idle.
