System reaction
The Allison fault code number is: P0713.The control unit uses default values for temperature.For the fault code to be set, the engine must be running and must have been hotter than 20ºC for 20 seconds if the engine has been running for less than 10 minutes.The fault code is cleared automatically, when the vehicle has completed 40 start-up cycles without the fault being detected again.
Diagnostic depth
The control unit has detected that the sump oil temperature has been lower than or equal to a calibrated value for more than 2.5 seconds.
Possible cause of the fault can be damage to the cable harness or short circuit of pin 54 to battery. If the fault codes 2 185 or 2 743 are both set, there is a very high probability that one of the electrical cables connected to pin 54, 35 or 75 is short circuited to battery. The fault code can also be caused by an open circuit in the cable harness to pin 54 or 58.
