GPS antenna short circuit to GND

â–¶ How to fix

Disconnect the GPS cord (blue connector) from the antenna (U26) and check if the DTC remains active. If so, the error is probably because of on the antenna. Disconnect the antenna but keep the wires connected to the infotainment system which is kept on. Measure the voltage between ground and signal. The measurement result should be around 5 V. Check for any potential short-circuit in the electric wires. If the fault is not in the harnesss or in the antenna, it is probably an internal fault in the infotainment system. Note. Before replacing the infotainment system update to the latest available software.

What you'll see

GPS-navigation and other GPS-related functions does not work, since no GPS-signal is available for the infotainment system.

System reaction

No system-reaction text recorded.

Diagnostic depth

Detection

If parameter Function_Navigation = on AND also the parameter GPS_Phantom_Feed = on, When GPS Antenna is short circuited to GND. When the current > 300mA. This fault will be checked during run-time. Note: In most cases the GPS_Phantom_Feed = off because the antenna is fed from RTC.

Possible cause

Antenna malfunction is triggered by any of the following conditions: - Faulty connector - Faulty wire harness - Faulty antenna U26
