Detection
The difference in rotational speed between the transfer box input shaft and the transfer box output shaft is different from the rotational speed indicated by the gear ratio expected by the transfer gear.
Possible cause
Incorrect indication from the gear position sensor because of a defective mechanism, bad connection or short circuit in the cable harness or gear position sensor.
