Battery pack low cell voltage

â–¶ How to fix

• If it happens only one or two times between two service intervals, reset DTC. If the error appear more frequently continue with next action • Check if TMS have set any DTC’s regarding plausibility check. If so the primary error might not be connected to the RES. • If the vehicle have been operating very intensive the last week; park the vehicle over night for 12h (U15 off) so the battery can perform cell balancing. The battery will do this on its own. • Perform a test drive with intensive acceleration and several long slow braking from high velocity >60km/h to stop. Make sure the battery gets fully discharged several times during the test drive. • Check if the DTC’s has returned. If so perform balancing routine one more time. • Read out the SOH value via SDP3. It should be above 52%. (A new battery exchange recommendation parameter will be available later) • Change battery pack (E83) according to instruction in multi and in co understanding with the vehicle owner hence it’s a very expensive part.

What you'll see

No driver-visible symptom recorded.

System reaction

•VOR, the hybrid system will not work since the battery will not be engaged. The DCC will not receive VCB-power and the 24-volt system will drain the 24-volt batteries. • Amber warning lamp "24V batteries not charged" and "Hybrid System Fault" is shown in ICL

Diagnostic depth

Detection

Component fault nr. 15 from the IBU indicates cell voltage below limit.

Possible cause

• Disturbed measurement frames • The battery have not had time to perform cell balancing which can cause high inaccuracies in the SOC-estimation • The vehicle have been parked for a long time so the battery pack (E83) have been drained by self discharge • Bad power control from TMS • Cells are defective or worn out
