Normal brake pedal sensor short circuit to battery.

â–¶ How to fix

• Check wiring (to brake pedal sensor) • Check connectors (to brake pedal sensor) • Check brake pedal sensor • Measure the sensor voltage between signal and ground • Check brake pedal mechanism

What you'll see

Continuous brake light. Problem activating exhaust brake. Brake pedal information sent on the CAN-bus is labeled with an error indicator. Cruise control is disabled Adaptive Cruise control is disabled Collision Mitigation (warning and/or brake assist) will be deactivated.

System reaction

Amber Cruise Control malfunc.

Diagnostic depth

Detection

Impermissible signal from the brake pedal normal sensor. The sensor voltage level is too high. The brake sensor is short circuit to supply voltage.

Possible cause

• Defect wiring - short circuit between brake pedal signal (pin C13) and supply voltage (+5V or +24 V) - open-circuit on brake (normal) ground connector C22. • Defect connectors • Defect brake pedal sensor (potentiometer) • Mechanically defect brake pedal mechanism (causing brake pedal sensor to reach an impermissible position)
