GMS node: timeout in CAN communication.
• Check the GMS for DTCs. • If DTCs cannot be read from the GMS: - check CAN connection to GMS unit - check power supply and ignition signal to the GMS • Check wiring and connectors for the red CAN-bus • Measure the resistance (with the battery disconnected) between pins B1 and B10. It should be approximately 60 ohm (one 120 ohm termination resistor in each end of the CAN-bus).
What you'll see
No driver-visible symptom recorded.
System reaction
• Functions dependent on information from GMS are degraded (examples listed below): - no Current Gear information in the ICL vehicle display - the Reverse Lights might not get activated when vehicle is put in reverse gear - the Reverse Lights might not go off when vehicle is shifted from reverse gear - the Open Door Alarm might stop to work (since we can not tell if the gearbox is in neutral)
Diagnostic depth
Communication error. Communication with the Gearbox Management System (GMS) interrupted.
• Faulty GMS unit • GMS unit disconnected from the red CAN bus
