0x80281B,Passenger side-airbag high resistance
1. Disconnect CSS ECU side cable connector 2. Locate relevant pins on cable connector according to DTC and measure resistance between pins in connector, if above 6.0 Ohms then problem is with cable. Continue checking cable according to next instruction. If resistance is below 6 Ohms then fault is likely in ECU and it need to be replaced. 3. Unplug both pins from connector and re-measure resistance between them, if resistance is above 6 Ohms then continue checking cable according to next instruction. Otherwise connector is likely malfunctioning and need to be replaced. 4. Disconnect cable also from squib connector. Measure resistance over positive wire. If resistance above 6 Ohms then fix positive wire/cable. Otherwise continue to next instruction. 5. Continue by measuring resistance over negative wire, if resistance is above 6 Ohms then fix negative wire/cable. Otherwise continue to next instruction. 6. If cable ok, then measure resistance over squib, if resistance is above 6 Ohms then continue error checking the squib.
What you'll see
No driver-visible symptom recorded.
System reaction
Indication: CSS (airbag) malfunction warning indication is displayed in ICL Consequence: Airbags and belt-pretensioners may not deploy upon crash depending of if energy reserve is sufficient to compensate for the higher resistance
Diagnostic depth
Measured resistance over Passenger side-airbag squib is higher than 6.0 Ohm (implausible value)
No airbag/beltpretensioner connected Incompatible or defect squib,Bad contacts somewhere in the ignition loop
