0x80381A,Rear passenger side side-airbag low resistance
1. Disconnect CSS ECU side cable connector 2. Locate relevant pins on cable connector according to DTC and measure resistance between the pins, if resistance is above 1.9 Ohms the cable and connector are ok, continue to next instruction 3. Measure resistance over corresponding pins on ECU, if resistance is close to zero then replace ECU. Otherwise continue to next instruction. 4. Unplug pins from connector and re-measure resistance between corresponding wires, if resistance is above 1.9 Ohms then problem is with connector, replace it. Otherwise continue to next instruction. 5. Unplug squib cable connector and measure resistance over it, if below 1.9 Ohms then replace/repair squib. Otherwise continue to next instruction 6. The problem is likely with the cable harness, replace it or continue tracing shortage between the relevant wires.
What you'll see
No driver-visible symptom recorded.
System reaction
Indication: CSS (airbag) malfunction warning indication is displayed in ICL Consequence: Airbags and belt-pretensioners will not deploy upon crash if not connected properly to ECU
Diagnostic depth
Measured resistance over rear passenger side side-airbag squib is less than 1.9 Ohm (implausible value)
Short circuit between positive and negative pin Incompatible or defect squib
