Voltage is out of range on potentiometer input 2

â–¶ How to fix

-Check the potentiometer, cable harness and connectors for mechnical damage. -Check that the sensor power supply output gives 12 V to the potentiometer. -Try to re-calibrate the door according to the workshop manual. -Measure the voltage on pin 2 (yellow wire) on the potentiometer and compare with the valid range (0.8 - 10.6 V): when the door leaf is closed it shall be near the lower end of the range and when the door leaf is open it shall be near the upper end of the range, but it may never be outside the range. -Measure the voltage while moving the door leaf slowly by hand and check that the voltage changes continuously and smoothly without jumping up and down, and stays inside the valid range. -If the voltage is incorrect in some way then the potentiometer has to be repalced and the door must be re-calibrated.

What you'll see

The door leaf cannot be run by the DCU as it cannot determine the correct position. If the emergency opening system is activated, the door can be moved by hand or slide open by itself.

System reaction

The DCU signals 'Major fault' over CAN to MBS, which then requests 'Door malfunction' notification and an exclamation mark indication in the related door in Bus stop page in ICL.

Diagnostic depth

Detection

The voltage on the input is not within the valid voltage range (0.8 - 10.6 V).

Possible cause

- Short circuit to ground or supply due to damaged or broken wires. - The connected component is out of order. - The sensor power supply is out of order.
