Lining Wear Sensor 5 : signal amplitude greater than maximum

â–¶ How to fix

Check the cables and connectors between EPM and Lining wear sensor. Switch on lining wear sensor supply with diagnostics and read recorded voltage values (readLiningWearSensorValues_Start, readLiningWearSensorValues_Stop, readLiningWearSensorValues_Results). Perform voltage measurement externally (between LWS GND and LWS signal) during the time period, when lining wear sensor supply is switch on. If measured value is not within range 0,4 - 4,7 [V] (EOL values) the problem is in the sensor or wiring. Compare values recorded by diagnostics and measured externally. If the values do not match (within 10% tolerance), EPM should be changed. If the values match disconnect lining wear sensor connector from EPM. Measure resistance of sensor to - sensor supply, it should be larger than 200 [kOhm]. - then with wiring disconnected from EPM and measure sensor signal to ground. If all values are correct then wiring is OK, and sensor should be replaced.

What you'll see

No driver-visible symptom recorded.

System reaction

Lining wear control off. Lining Wear Warning Lamp.

Diagnostic depth

Detection

This error is set if the signal level is over a defined threshold during a certain time period. The threshold is set by EOL parameter (default parameter is 4.7V) and the time period is 600 ms

Possible cause

Damage in the cables and connectors of the lining wear sensor, damage of the lining wear sensor, damage of the EPM
