Lining Wear Supply Wheel 3 : Short to ground, Unswitchable to ON
Check the cables and connectors from the LWS to the corresponding EPM (including check for chafing damage) for short circuits. Disconnect lining wear sensor from EPM. Switch on lining wear sensor supply with diagnostics and read recorded supply voltage values (readLiningWearSensorValues_Start, readLiningWearSensorValues_Stop, readLiningWearSensorValues_Results). Perform voltage measurement of lining wear sensor output of EPM externally during the time period, when lining wear sensor supply is switch on. Compare values recorded by diagnostics and measured externally. If the values do not match (tolerance 10%), or they are out of range (4.5V...5.5V), EPM should be changed. With wiring disconnected from both EPM and lining wear sensor: resistance of each wire should be less than 3 Ohm, and resistance between two pins of the wiring should be larger than 200 kOhm. If all values are correct then wiring is OK, and sensor should be replaced.
What you'll see
No driver-visible symptom recorded.
System reaction
Lining wear control off. Lining Wear Warning Lamp.
Diagnostic depth
The error is set if the lining wear sensor supply is switched on, but its voltage remains below minimum supply voltage (4.5V).
Damage in the wiring and/or connectors between lining wear sensor and EPM, damaged lining wear sensor, damaged EPM
