Over load on degradation latch solenoid (DLS)
Check wiring and connectors between the ESTA::ECU (E1003) and ESTA::CVU::DLS(V1001). The battery should be disconnected during measurements. 1. Check connnectors: - Disconnect harness connectors on both ECU side, and DLS side. - Visually check connectors for defects connecting E1003 and V1001. 2. Check solenoid: - Disconnect harness connector on both ECU side, and DLS side. - Measure the resistance on the solenoid component between pins V1001::1 and V1001::2. - Should be 6.3 ohm at +20°C - If resistance about 0 ohm replace solenoid. 3. Check Wiring - Disconnect harness connector on both ECU side, and DLS side. - Check cable harness for defects. - Measure the resistance over the cables between pins E1003::A16 and E1003::A18. It should be infinite. If not cables has broken isolation or shorcicuit in cable connectors. - Connect the connector on DLS side. - Measure the resistance over the cables between pins E1003::A16 and E1003::A18. It should be about same resistance as in step 2. If resistance much lower short circuit in connector between DLS and cable. To invalidate error: 1. Turn the ignition key to OFF, and wait for 10 seconds. 2. Apply Parking brake. 3. Make sure the tag axle wheels are free to steer (e.g. vehicle should not be on a lift) 4. Turn the ignition key to ON. 5. Diagnostic SelfTest is now executed. 6. After approximately 60 second system should return to normal operation. - Faultcodes should be passive.
What you'll see
• DLS is deactivated, output pin A18 turned off on ECU. If system starts/restarted with error present, the system will enter degradation mode.
System reaction
Red Steer tag axle fault warn ESTA in released or fixed mode
Diagnostic depth
Over load on degradation latch solenoid (DLS) output.
* Cable - Short circuit to ground on cable coneecting pin A18 to DLS. * Connectors - Connector defect on DLS - Connector defect on ESTA * Defect DLS -There is a short curcuit in DLS.
