The MPU enable function is faulty, i.e. the External Motor Latch does not work.
Verify that system is operating under normal voltage condition before taking further actions. Test restarting system according to the "To invalidate error" sequence below. Check if DTC 0x0259 is active/passive. (The CAN signal MPUenable (ExternalMotorLatch) does not match the ECU's MPU enable I/O output.) If trouble code active indicates wiring short circuit problems. Check signals in ESTA (ECU). Compare values for - CID 0xF443 and CID 0xF438 - using SDP3 against Signals should match, if not error trace wiring. Check cable and connectors: - Check connection between pin M1003::C6 - pin E1003::A27 - Check connection between pin M1003::C5 - pin E1003::A25 If signals correct and wiring is not defect, probable causes are internal software or mechanical errors on MPU (M1003). -Replace unit. To invalidate error: 1. Turn the ignition key to OFF, and wait for 10 seconds. 2. Apply Parking brake. 3. Make sure the tag axle wheels are free to steer (e.g. vehicle should not be on a lift) 4. Turn the ignition key to ON. 5. Diagnostic SelfTest is now executed. 6. After approximately 60 second system should return to normal operation. - Faultcodes should be passive.
What you'll see
No driver-visible symptom recorded.
System reaction
Red Steer tag axle fault warn ESTA in released or fixed mode
Diagnostic depth
The MPU enable command via I/O does not inhibit MPU speed requested.
Internal MPU error.
