Real time clock error
1. Change ICL (strongly recommended if the vehicle in not equipped with a tachograph otherwise recomended) 2. Or inform that the RTC will not work during keyOff and that this might cause problem with time stamping DTC’s.
What you'll see
No driver-visible symptom recorded.
System reaction
This DTC will not activate a warning. If the vehicle is equipped with a tachograph the driver will not notice this failure unless he is entering the limited operating mode in the instrument cluster otherwise he will notice that the displayed time is not correct after a keyOn. Note that without a tachograph, correcting the time and date, there will be problem with the timestamp of DTC’s in all ECU systems including the ICL if DTC 202 is pending or validated. The RTC can have two different behaviours when there is a problem with the backup battery. A bad battery will only cause the RTC to stop when the ignition is turned off but if the battery is disconnected or if the voltage level is much to low the RTC will not only stop during a keyOff the stored data will also be cleared, causing the RTC to begin from zero when the ignition is turned on again. Note: This check is performed at keyOn
Diagnostic depth
Internal Only stored when ignition is ON.
Internal failure 1. A bad backup battery 2. The backup battery is not connected or has bad connections.
