What you'll see
No driver-visible symptom recorded.
System reaction
The engine control unit temporarily reduces the torque to try to stop the clutch from slipping. The fault code is generated when the engine control unit has tried to reduce the torque for an extended period without stopping the clutch from slipping.
Diagnostic depth
The difference between engine speed and wheel speed is improbable in relation to the gear ratios in the gearbox. The engine control unit will interpret this as a slipping clutch.
The fault may be caused by a worn clutch. This may also be because the vehicle has been converted so that the gearbox fitted in the vehicle does not match the SOPS file in the vehicle. The road speed sensor may be positioned incorrectly.
