ECU supervision in the EEC system

β–Ά How to fix

Replace the control unit for the EEC system. For engines with NOx-control software, confirmation of repair requires:- Turn the ignition off, wait at least 90 s- Turn the ignition on, wait at least 30 s If the fault is remedied, the DTC should now be passive.

What you'll see

No driver-visible symptom recorded.

System reaction

The EEC system will be shut off until next driving cycle (ignition key off) and will not inject any urea, which leads to higher emissions. High temperatures may destroy the urea.Fault code 100C, 100A and 100B (CAN time out) may occur when the system is shut off. Always trouble shoot this fault code before considering 100C, 100A or 100B.NOTE: The diagnosis for this fault code can not be performed when the EEC system is shut off. Thus the fault code can not become passive or be regenerated (if erased) until next driving cycle. Switch off ignition key for 90 seconds and switch it on again before reading fault codes. For engines with NOx-control software, this DTC is classed as a type D failure.

Diagnostic depth

Detection

Monitoring module error, mismatch in error counter.Monitoring module is a supervisory module. This will check the health or correctness of the EEC-ECU. This is implemented by using question and answer algorithm. The monitoring module monitors the function of the microcontroller.(Refer BOSCH SW-specification Y281S01334-VC0 for more details. Error path: ep08_s_def_ouw.0, umon_s_def_ouc.0.)

Possible cause

The EEC control system and the monitoring module don’t agree of the number of detected errors i.e. there is a mismatch.
