Diagnostic depth

Detection

Error detected on inserted card (in slot 1). MC42: Previously inserted card is missing. The tachograph no longer detects an inserted card. MC43: Previously inserted card is missing. The tachograph no longer detects an inserted card. MC44: During a read out from a driver or workshop card in slot 1 or slot 2 it was determined that the card was not properly withdrawn in the last vehicle or the card data was not saved properly. MC45: Negative time difference relative to last vehicle’s tachograph. MC46: A tachograph card has been inserted after the driving started. MC47: Security breach during authentication of a tachograph card. MC48: The inserted tachograph card has expired or is invalid.

Possible cause

MC42: * Error during verification of card data authenticity. MC43: * After a voltage interruption, an identity test determines if the previously inserted card is missing or if another card has been inserted. * The card lock mechanism is still open after the card has been inserted. MC44: * Last card session not correctly closed. MC45: * The removal time saved on the tachograph card is later than the current system time (the time when the card was inserted in the current tachograph). MC46: * Motion sensor impulses detected before detection of inserted tachograph card. MC47: * Error during verification of the tachograph card identity. MC48: * An invalid or expired tachograph card (a) has been inserted. * During a day change-over (b) it was determined that the inserted tachograph card is no longer valid. a) An expired tachograph card (tachograph card has expired but the certificate is still valid), can be inserted for printing or displaying saved data; after acknowledging the warning message, the tachograph card is read in a “read only” mode. b) If a day change takes place while the vehicle stands still, the respective data will be saved on the tachograph card and the card will be ejected. If a day change takes place while the vehicle is moving, the respective data will be saved on the tachograph card after the end of the trip and the card will be ejected.
