Check the 3-way engine start switch located in the engine compartment, the connectors, and wiring between the switch and the BCI.

System reaction
The BWE malfunction warning symbol is shown in the instrument cluster. It may not be possible to inhibit engine start with the switch in the engine compartment. It may also not be possible to start the engine with the switch. There is a risk that the engine will start with the switch in the middle position. Once the DTC has been validated the vehicle may not be started from the switch until the DTC has been erased.
