Not Valid
- Check carefully for genuine fire in the engine bay - Check the fuse for the fire alarm circuit and reset or replace if necessary - Check the integrity of the fire alarm sensor - Check the connection of the fire alarm sensor to the harness - Check the integrity of the harness between the sensor and the BCI system
What you'll see
No driver-visible symptom recorded.
System reaction
The fire alarm is activated in the instrument cluster
Diagnostic depth
The Engine Fire Alarm has been activated through discrete IO pin.
- Fire - in the event of a real fire, the sensor will be destroyed and a genuine fire event will occur - Broken/tripped fuse for the fire alarm circuit - when the fuse is broken the discrete IO is not at the battery voltage - Broken sensor input - the sensor may become damaged, for example during maintenance work in the engine bay of the vehicle - Excessive heat in the engine bay - if the sensor became excessively hot in the engine bay it could melt and be destroyed - Disconnected sensor input - if the sensor is not connected, the default behaviour is for the fire alarm to be issued - Broken harness between the fire sensor and the BCI system
