ECU hardware failure.

â–¶ How to fix

1. Check electrical installation in vehicle for non-certified third party equipment(*) and disconnect these. 2. Check for available software updates/campaigns. 3. If the problem remains (the DTC reappears after erase), after the above actions, replace the ECU. (*) The sensitivity, for equipment with high EMC radiation, is increased in an EMC emitting environment. This could for example be radar stations (airport/military), electric distribution plants, electrical switch towers, transformer stations, steel works, "electric" welding, etc.

What you'll see

No driver-visible symptom recorded.

System reaction

• Hybrid amber warning is shown in ICL • BMU(E81) will stop sending CAN messages and will set discrete outputs in fail safe modes

Detection

Faults are detected using different methods for different types of memories. The following checks are applied for the respective memory type: • program flash is checked against a pre-calculated checksum • calibration flash is checked against a pre-calculated checksum • internal RAM is checked with the CPU built-in ECC function (see manual for MPC5668E) • EEprom emulated in flash is monitored in various data consistency checks • Stack memory is checked with the CPU built-in ECC function (see manual for MPC5668E)

Possible cause

• ECU hardware failure • Exposure to extensive electro-magnetic radiation
