Battery pack under charged

â–¶ How to fix

• If hybrid vehicle have been parked for a long time and the actual SOC is below 10% a forced charge of the battery is needed. • Start the vehicle • Start the force charge service with SDP3. • If the vehicle have been operating very intensive the last week the pack might be unbalanced; park the vehicle over night for 12h (U15 off) so the battery can perform cell balancing. The battery will do this on its own. • Perform a test drive with intensive acceleration and several long slow braking from high velocity >60km/h to stop. Make sure the battery gets fully charged. • Park the vehicle for minimum 30min and read out the actual SOC-value. It should be above 25% • Check if the DTC’s has returned. If so perform balancing routine one more time. • Check if TMS have set any DTC’s regarding plausibility check. If so the primary error might not be connected to the RES. Check that no DTC regarding insulation error exist. • Make sure that the battery is warmer than 10degC so that there is no heater request active. • Read out the signal battery current with SDP3. With only U15 on the battery current shall be close to zero. • Start the engine. Read the battery pack and auxiliary current and electric machine torque via SDP3. The Battery and auxiliary currents shall be very similar and the inverter torque should be close to zero. Note the current level. • Shut down the system and disconnect the heater fuse according to instruction in multi. Start the system again and check if the battery and auxiliary currents. Compare the value to the earlier test with the heater fuse connected. • If the currents are lower with the heater disconnected change the heater according to instruction in Multi. • If the DTC still returns change battery pack (E83) according to instruction in multi and in co understanding with the vehicle owner hence it's a very expensive part

What you'll see

No driver-visible symptom recorded.

System reaction

• VOR, the hybrid system will not work since the battery will not be engaged. The DCC will not receive VCB-power and the 24-volt system will drain the 24-volt batteries. • Amber warning lamp "24V batteries not charged" and "Hybrid System Fault" is shown in ICL

Diagnostic depth

Detection

The estimated charge level calculated in RES(E83) is below 10%

Possible cause

• The vehicle have been parked for a long time so the battery pack (E83) have been drained. • The battery have not had time to perform cell balancing which can cause high inaccuracies in the SOC-estimation • Quiescent current is present on the dc-link that drains the battery pack (E83) on energy. • A attached VCB component is active and consume energy when it not should.
