Battery heater activation error

▶ How to fix

• Run the heater and valve diagnostic test with SDP3. If the test is successful there are no real error and the DTC can be erased. If not proceed with the following steps. • Check that connectors H32-A and H32-B are connected. • Check that connector E81-C is connected. • Disconnect the connectors H32-A and H32B. Apply 24V on the component with + on H32-A1 and - on H32-A2 and check that the resistance over H32-B-A and H32-B-C changes from OL to 67±5Ω when 24V is applied. If the resistance does not change or is out of range, change the heater. • Check the cable by checking that H32-B1 is connected to E81-C10 and H32-B2 is connected to E81-C14. If there is no connection, change the cable. • Check the fuse V1 in VCB junction box B78. NOTE! Replacing or checking a fuse in the VCB central electric unit is considered an electrical work and shall only be performed by certified personnel. Vehicle shall be made safe according to electrical work procedure. • Check the VCB-harness between heater H32 and VCB junction box B78. If there is visible damage change the cable. • Connect H32-A and keep H32-B disconnected. Put the heater in “on state” and measure the voltage on the pins H32-A1 and H32-A2. If the voltage is <4V, change the BMU.

What you'll see

No driver-visible symptom recorded.

System reaction

No heating of the battery. If the battery temperature is below 5ºC the hybrid system power is reduced until temperature increased above 5ºC .

Diagnostic depth

Detection

Heater current or temperature not increasing as expected.

Possible cause

•Heater not connected •VCB fuse •VCA cable broken •VCB cable broken •Heater Sensor broken •Heater broken
