Battery pack interlook loop fault
• Visually check status of the interlock loop control switch and the VCA and VCB connectors on the battery pack(E83). If the control switch is in position 1 and all connectors are connected perform a continuity check of the interlock loop. • Continuity check of the interlock loop vehicle side: • Disconnect the VCB connectors to the battery pack battery pack(E83) VCB connector (C and B) and perform a manual continuity measurement “Beep measurement” between pin B-2 to B-3 and C-2 to C-3 on the cable connector. Check also that the interlock pins are straight and not pushed deeply into the connector . Perform continuity measurement on the loop between the battery pack(E83) VCA connector A-10 and A-12 and the interlock loop control switch. Replace any broken cables or parts see drawing 2098187 and 2147897 for cable routing. • Dismount the battery pack according to instruction in multi and place the battery on a work bench • Continuity check of the interlock loop battery side: • Measure between pin B on the negative VCB connectors and pin C on the positive VCB connector • If no connection check the interlock loop connectors on the VCB-connector housing inside the battery pack • Measure between pin C on the negative VCB connectors and pin 12 on the VCA connector • If no connection toggle the micro switch to check it’s functionality • If no connection check the connectors to the IBU • Change the IBU NOTE! Replacing the IBU is considered an electrical work and shall only be performed by certified personnel. Vehicle shall be made safe according to electrical work procedure.
What you'll see
No driver-visible symptom recorded.
System reaction
• BMU request disable system and hybrid malfunction appears in the ICL. It is not possible to activate the battery pack(E83). • VOR, the hybrid system will not work since the battery will not be engaged. The DCC will not receive VCB-power and the 24-volt system will drain the 24-volt batteries. • Amber warning lamp "24V batteries not charged" and "Hybrid System Fault" is shown in ICL
Diagnostic depth
The VCB interlock loop is interrupt. IBU send status flag that the interlock loop is interrupted.
• Interlock loop control switch is active • The lid to the maintenance disconnector is removed • VCB connectors is not attached correct • Bad connections in VCB connectors • Interlock loop cables are broke. • Internal HW error in IBU in the battery pack (E83)
