Absence of communication on the CMS subCAN2-bus.

â–¶ How to fix

• Check connectors for the CMS subCAN2-bus on CMS (pin (A35) and (A38)). • Check wiring for the CMS subCAN2-bus: o Measure the resistance (with the battery disconnected) between CAN-high (pin A35) and CAN-low (pin A38). It should be close to 60 ohm when all units are connected (one 120 ohm termination resistor in each end of the CAN-bus). o Measure the resistance (with the battery disconnected) between CAN-high on CMS (pin A35) and CAN-high on the other units on the CMS subCAN2-bus. It should be close to zero ohm. o Measure the resistance (with the battery disconnected) between CAN-low on CMS (pin A38) and CAN-low on the other units on the CMS subCAN2-bus. It should be close to zero ohm. • Check wiring and connector for the ignition signal (pin B38) on the CMS.

What you'll see

No driver-visible symptom recorded.

System reaction

Functions that depend on information from CMS subCAN2 bus are degraded.

Diagnostic depth

Detection

Communication error. The CAN-controller of the CMS subCAN2-bus has entered state bus-off. There is a short circuit on the CMS subCAN2-bus.

Possible cause

Defect wiring of the CMS subCAN2-bus: • short circuit between CAN-high and CAN-low. • short circuit between CAN-high and supply voltage. • short circuit between CAN-high and ground. • short circuit between CAN-low and supply voltage. • short circuit between CAN-low and ground. Defect ECU unit(s) on the CMS subCAN2-bus.
