Normal brake pedal sensor open circuit, or short circuit to ground.

â–¶ How to fix

• Check wiring (to brake pedal sensor) • Check connectors (to brake pedal sensor) • Check brake pedal sensor • Measure the sensor voltage between signal and ground • Check brake pedal mechanism

What you'll see

Continuous brake light. Problem activating exhaust brake. Brake pedal information sent on the CAN-bus is labeled with an error indicator. Cruise control is disabled Adaptive Cruise control is disabled Collision Mitigation (warning and/or brake assist) will be deactivated.

System reaction

Amber AEB malfunction Amber Cruise Control malfunc.

Diagnostic depth

Detection

Impermissible signal from the brake pedal normal sensor. The sensor voltage level is too low. The brake pedal sensor has an open circuit, or is short circuit to ground.

Possible cause

• Defect wiring - open circuit on brake pedal signal (pin C13) - open circuit on brake pedal sensor supply (pin C31) - short circuit to ground • Defect connectors • Defect brake pedal sensor (potentiometer) • Mechanically defect brake pedal mechanism (causing brake pedal sensor to reach an impermissible position)
