Timeout in CAN communication with Forward looking camera (FLC)

â–¶ How to fix

• Check the FLC for DTCs. • If DTCs cannot be read from the FLC: - Check CAN connection to FLC unit - Check power supply and ignition signal to the FLC • Check wiring and connectors for the environment sensor CAN bus • Measure the resistance (with the battery disconnected) between pins B5 and B14. It should be approximately 60 ohm (one 120 ohm termination resistor in each end of the CAN-bus). If all connected ECUs on the sensor CAN-bus present timeout error codes • Measure the resistance (with the battery disconnected) between CAN-high (pin B5) and supply. It should be high ohmic (Mega ohm). • Measure the resistance (with the battery disconnected) between CAN-low (pin B14) and ground. It should be high ohmic (Mega ohm). • Disconnect the other ECU units one at the time from the CAN bus and check if the remaining ECU timeout error codes disappear.

What you'll see

• Lane Departure Warning is disabled. • AEB will be disabled for stationary (standstill) targets. • AiCC will have reduced functionality (will shutdown in low speeds). • Lane Departure Warning Malfunction in the instrument cluster. • AEB reduced functionality in the instrument cluster.

System reaction

Amber AEB reduced function Amber LDW malfunction

Diagnostic depth

Detection

The DTC is set if there is a timeout in the CAN communication with the FLC node.

Possible cause

• Faulty FLC unit • FLC unit disconnected from the environment sensor CAN bus If all connected ECUs on the sensor CAN-bus present timeout error codes the cause might be: • Defect wiring : - Short circuit between CAN-high and supply voltage. - Short circuit between CAN-low and ground. • Defect ECU unit(s) on the environment sensor CAN bus.
