Distance sensor (DIS) sends essential signals with poor status.
Check DIS unit for DTCs. If DTCs cannot be read from DIS: • Check CAN connection to DIS. • Check power supply and ignition signal to DIS. • Check wiring and connectors for CAN bus 4. • Measure the resistance (with the battery disconnected) between pins B6 and B15. It should be approximately 60 ohm (one 120 ohm termination resistor in each end of the CAN-bus). If several connected ECUs on the sensor CAN bus present DTCs: • Measure the resistance (with the battery disconnected) between CAN-high (pin B6) and supply. It should be high ohmic (Mega ohm). • Measure the resistance (with the battery disconnected) between CAN-low (pin B15) and ground. It should be high ohmic (Mega ohm). • Disconnect the other ECU units one at the time from the CAN bus and check if remaining ECU's DTCs. If CAN connections are OK, spare part program the units which are not configured correctly.
What you'll see
No driver-visible symptom recorded.
System reaction
Undefined vehicle behavior (if an ECU configuration does not match the vehicle).
Diagnostic depth
The DTC is set to active if: RTDB_GP_DISTANCE_SENSOR_E == 20 and DIS is not in init state and CAN message GeneralInfoDISProp:DISSensorStatus has values 6 (not calibrated), 8-13 (Reserved) or 15 (NotAvailable). or DIS is in init state (at startup) for more than 7 seconds or Message Counters are not being updated for 24 consecutive ticks or Message Counters are invalid (out of sync) for more than 3 consecutive ticks or One or more of the following signals have poor status (<CSS_ERRPEND_U08) (X = 1,...,6): • RTDB_RTX_ID_E • RTDB_RTX_MSG_COUNTER1_E • RTDB_RTX_MSG_COUNTER2_E • RTDB_RTX_DISTANCE_E • RTDB_RTX_VREL_E • RTDB_RTX_LATDISTANCE_E • RTDB_RTX_LATVREL_E • RTDB_RTSX_ID_E • RTDB_RTSX_MSG_COUNTER_E • RTDB_RTSX_DISTANCE_E • RTDB_RTSX_LATDISTANCE_E The DTC is set to inactive if: CAN message GeneralInfoDISProp:DISSensorStatus is received and has value within 0-5, 7 or 14. The DTC is not set in the following cases: • Ignition is turned off. • First 2 seconds after ignition on. • System voltage is below 22V • System voltage is above 32V • While DIS is in init state (GeneralInfoDISProp:DISSensorStatus == 1). NB: this may last for max 7 seconds. • When vehicle speed is under 2 km/h.
The radar has an internal fault (e.g. blocked sensor) or is not calibrated. There can also be a combination of the following (unknown fault): • DIS reports internal error on CAN bus • DIS or DAS unit is not correctly configured - Spare part unit, which has not been programmed/configured - Unit transferred from another vehicle • DIS unit is not correctly connected to the CAN bus
