Coolant Pump Actuator (V124) - Bad Performance
- Check the belt drive tension. - Replace the controllable coolant pump. - Verify that the fault is fixed using SDP3.
What you'll see
The pump coupling is not working correctly and the engine cooling capacity is reduced. The engine temperature may be higher than normal and the engine fan may be used more. Too high engine temperatures result in reduced engine torque.
System reaction
- Yellow engine warning. - The ECU will try to fully engage the coolant pump.
Diagnostic depth
The speed of the coolant pump is lower than the demanded speed.
- Too little or no oil in the pump coupling due to leakage - The viscosity of the oil in the pump coupling has decreased - Low tension in the belt drive - Other mechanical failure inside the pump viscous coupling
