Timeout on EBC message on CAN
Check CAN connections, connectors and cable harnesses. Also check the BMS control unit.
What you'll see
No driver-visible symptom recorded.
System reaction
For vehicles with an automatic gearbox: The driving wheels may lose traction under slippery road conditions resulting in an upshift without any increase in vehicle speed. If the rotational speed sensor for propeller shaft speed is not working either, the system goes into locked gear. For vehicles with retarder: Auxiliary braking is only allowed with the auxiliary brake lever. The retarder will not disengage when the accelerator pedal is depressed. The retarder is disengaged only when the hand lever is returned to its top position.
Diagnostic depth
The fault code is generated if a CAN message which was expected from BMS is missing.
Expected CAN messages from BMS are missing. If fault codes 11040, 11041, 11050, 11051 and 11060 have been generated, there is probably an open circuit on the CAN cable to the TMS control unit.
